Biosketch
Giulia is a MASc in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto. She is co-supervised by Professor Ali Dolatabadi, and Dr. Amin Madani at the Surgical Artificial Intelligence Research Academy (SARA) at the University Health Network (UHN). Giulia obtained a Bachelor’s of Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering from McMaster University in 2024. Over the summers of 2022 and 2023, Giulia worked as a research student in the CACT Lab under the supervision of Professor Dolatabadi.
Research
Giulia’s research involves the development of digital twins for surgical procedures to assist in surgical education and pre-operative planning. Her research focuses on two procedures: (1) Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, also known as gallbladder removal surgery, and (2) Breast-conserving surgery.
